Biography

Benjamin E. Goldsmith is a Professor at the School of Politics and International Relations at the Australian National University. His research focuses on international relations, comparative foreign policy, and atrocity forecasting. He has authored the book 'Imitation in International Relations: Observational Learning, Analogies, and Foreign Policy' and published articles in leading academic journals such as the American Political Science Review and the Journal of Peace Research. He has received grants from the Australian Government’s Responsibility to Protect Fund and the Australian Research Council for his research. Goldsmith is the founding President of the Australian Society for Quantitative Political Science and has served on several editorial boards, including the Japanese Journal of Political Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan (2001) and an M.A. in Russian Area Studies from Georgetown University (1995). Since joining ANU in 2017, he has taught at universities across Australia, Singapore, and the United States.
