Benjamin Martin is an American-born trained historian specializing in twentieth-century Europe. He is a senior lecturer (associate professor) at Uppsala University's Department of History of Science and Ideas. His research, funded by the Swedish Research Council, employs digital text analysis to investigate the development of 'international ideas' at UNESCO from 1945 to 2015. Martin is the author of "Nazi-Fascist New Order in European Culture," published by Harvard University Press in 2016, which examines the cultural aspirations of the German-Italian Axis during the late 1930s and World War II. He is actively involved in using digital humanities methods to explore the interplay between culture and international relations, including a project focused on the history of bilateral cultural agreements. As part of his academic role, Martin teaches intellectual and cultural history courses and co-taught the Euroculture Program's 2014 summer Intensive Program, which linked European studies with environmental humanities. His previous experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor of History at San Francisco State University from 2008 to 2010, where he taught political and cultural history of twentieth-century Europe.
