Biography

Lecturer at the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, Benjamin Mulvey is the Programme Leader for the MSc in Education, Public Policy Equity, and currently serves as the Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research within the School. He has previously been a Post-doctoral Fellow in Education at the University of Hong Kong, and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Sydney and University College London. Benjamin serves as an editor for Compare: A Journal of Comparative International Education and is an editorial board member for several journals including Global Networks, British Journal of Sociology of Education, and International Studies in Sociology of Education. His interdisciplinary work has been published in education studies, sociology, and geography journals, including Higher Education and Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. Benjamin has been frequently invited to contribute to and is often cited by media outlets such as The Economist and the New York Higher Education. His research interests include sociology of international higher education, with a specific focus on China and international student mobility between Africa and China. He is also interested in social inequalities related to rural/urban dynamics and transitions in the labour market concerning higher education, as well as issues regarding academic freedom in the Chinese context.
