Biography

Benjamin Perryman is an Associate Professor at the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law, where he teaches and writes in the areas of constitutional law, evidence, migration, and private international law, focusing on the intersection of social science, evidence, and judicial decision-making. He holds a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School and both a Master of Laws and a Doctor of Juridical Science from Yale Law School, and is a Fulbright and Trudeau Scholar. Prior to joining the University of New Brunswick, Benjamin taught at the Schulich School of Law and Saint Mary’s University, practiced human rights law, and clerked for the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. He represents individuals and organizations in strategic litigation engagements related to constitutional rights, especially civil liberties and equality rights. His advocacy includes educational rights for 2SLGBTQIA+ students, rights to protest public health restrictions, detainee rights against solitary confinement, and rights of non-citizens facing deportation.
