Biography

Benjamin Zala is a Senior Lecturer (Fellow) in the Department of International Relations at the Australian National University. His research focuses on politics, great power management, and nuclear weapons. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Review of International Studies, Journal of Global Security Studies, and World Politics. He has a book titled 'Power in International Society: A Perceptual Approach to Great Power Politics' under contract with Oxford University Press, and contributed to the edited volume 'National Perspectives on a Multipolar Order,' published by Manchester University Press in 2021. Benjamin has been a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University and has held positions at Oxford Research Group, Chatham House, and the University of Leicester. He currently serves as an Honorary Fellow at the University of Leicester, contributing to an European Research Council-funded project. Benjamin holds a BA with Honours in International Relations from La Trobe University and a PhD from the University of Birmingham.
