Biography

Professor Benxin Wu is a faculty member in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2007, and has since been conducting research in laser-based manufacturing and materials processing. His research interests include laser-matter interactions, laser-induced plasma, and laser-plasma interactions, focusing on fundamental research areas as well as application areas in manufacturing and materials processing. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the NAMRI/SME Outstanding Paper Award in 2018, the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award in 2013, and the NSF CAREER Award in 2011. Professor Wu is dedicated to mentoring graduate program applicants and seeks individuals with strong backgrounds in thermal, fluid, and related manufacturing areas. His research group emphasizes hands-on experience in advanced mechanical engineering projects, allowing students to engage directly with impactful research.
