Since 2015, I have been engaged at VU in a broader sense with legal procedures following incidents in healthcare complaints. My doctoral research involved a multi-method study on the role of law when things go wrong in healthcare. To gain insight into openness in practice, I established the OPEN Learning Network with a multidisciplinary group of researchers from VU, Nivel, and Amsterdam UMC. The OPEN Learning Network is a collaborative network of hospitals and researchers working towards increased transparency after incidents in hospitals. I graduated in 2014 from the Faculty of Humanities (BA European Studies) and the Faculty of Law (LLM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with a master's thesis focusing on the position of healthcare providers after a medical incident, detailing that good employer practices implicate that employers can be held responsible for appropriately supporting healthcare providers. As a university lecturer, I supervise bachelor and master theses, lead working groups in Liability Law, and coordinate the master course in Health Law.
