Biography

Berend Roorda graduated in Mathematics from the University of Groningen in 1989 and spent a year at PTT Research in the Telematics Laboratory in Groningen. In 1995, he obtained his PhD in Econometrics from the Tinbergen Institute at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He held a postdoctoral position at Groningen University, sponsored by the Dutch Institute for Systems Control, and was affiliated with the Department of Econometrics at Tilburg University from 1996 to 2001, where he mainly focused on a post-doc project concerning model uncertainty in dynamical models in economics. In September 2001, he began working at the University of Twente. His expertise includes Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Consistency Equilibrium Model, Prospect Theory, Evolutionary Game Theory, and Investment. His research interests focus on value and risk in decision making, employing discounted cash flow methods, and addressing issues in Corporate Finance and Financial Engineering, including the measurement of extreme risk and applications in the financial sector, as well as behavioral aspects of decision making under uncertainty.
