Berislav Buca is an Assistant Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, supported by a Villum Young Investigator grant. He is a member of the Niels Bohr International Academy and has previously held a visiting researcher position at the University of Oxford, where he also lectured at Keble College in 2019. Berislav obtained his PhD from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia in 2015 and subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at Oxford from 2017 to 2022. His research focuses on mathematical theoretical physics, particularly non-equilibrium quantum many-body systems, with an emphasis on deriving exact results that are relevant to experimental physics. His main objective is to achieve a theoretical understanding of out-of-equilibrium many-body quantum systems, which have potential applications in future quantum technologies. Currently, he is involved in a project entitled 'Complex Dynamics of Non-Stationary Quantum Matter', which explores algebraic methods to calculate the long-time behaviors of quantum many-body systems in non-stationary states. This work aims to discover new types of non-stationary phases of quantum matter that manifest in out-of-equilibrium conditions, where traditional theoretical methods may fail to apply.
