Biography

Prof. Bernard Mulgrew is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Edinburgh, where he has a distinguished career in Engineering, particularly in the field of signal processing. He earned his B.Sc. degree in 1979 from Queen's University Belfast and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in 1987. His professional journey began with a four-year tenure as a Development Engineer within the Radar Systems Department at Ferranti, Edinburgh. Following this, he served as a research associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh from 1983 to 1986. His appointment as a lecturer in 1986 marked the start of a successful academic career, progressing through several ranks including senior lecturer in 1994 and reader in 1996, before being appointed to a Personal Chair in Signals and Systems in 1999. He currently holds the Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Signal Processing. His research interests encompass adaptive signal processing, estimation theory, and applications in radar and audio systems. Prof. Mulgrew is also a co-author of several notable books in signal processing.
