Biography

Bernardo holds a degree in Computer Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (2006), a master's degree in Informatics from the same institution (2009), and a PhD in Informatics from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro with a sandwich period at Leibniz Universität Hannover (2014). Currently, he is the Sub Dean of Educational Programs and a Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University in the College of Engineering, Computing, and Cybernetics. He also serves as a collaborator Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Informatics at UNIRIO and was an adjunct professor at the Department of Informatics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro from 2014 to 2019. Bernardo is a member of the International Advisory Board of the International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education and holds the title of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He has served in various capacities including as a researcher at L3S Research Center in Germany and as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2024. With over 100 scientific publications and various awards, he is actively involved in reviewing for high-ranked journals and conferences in his field.
