Dr. Bernd Page

Biography

Bernd Page is a professor and group leader at the University of Hamburg's Institute of Computer Science, specializing in modeling and simulation. He has extensive experience in the development of software tools for discrete simulation, leading to the creation of an object-oriented simulation framework in Java. This framework has been widely utilized in research projects and teaching, playing a central role in the publication of the 'Java Simulation Handbook.' His collaborative projects include the development of a component-based platform-independent simulator together with Associate Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kreutzer from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, under a funding program for scientific and technological collaboration between Germany and New Zealand. His research includes the integration of DESMO-J with the Eclipse platform and the development of optimization tools for offshore wind power systems. Additionally, he has developed software tools for the EU emissions trading system and interactive modules for e-learning in the field of applied computer science. His work on agent-based modeling for sustainable logistics concepts received support from the Hamburg Science Authority, amongst other projects funded by the BMBF. He has also been involved in several environmental data integration projects and assessments related to environmental information systems.
