Professor Dr. Bert Poolman

Biography

Bert Poolman is a Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Groningen. His research focuses on Membrane Transport, Synthetic Biology, Enzymology, and Membrane Biology. He employs various techniques including Fluorescence Microscopy and Membrane Reconstitution to understand the structure and function of proteins. Poolman is the Program Director at the Centre for Synthetic Biology and a member of the executive board of the Netherlands Centre for Health (NCOH). Additionally, he serves on the executive board of the Council for Chemistry and is an editor for the Journal of Molecular Biology. Poolman's contributions to the field have been recognized through various leadership roles and his co-founding of Portal Biotech Ltd. His institute is known for its cutting-edge research in biomolecular sciences and biotechnology, providing significant advancements in understanding complex biological systems.
