Biography

Beth Greenhough joined the School of Geography and the Environment in September 2014. She holds a PhD in Human Geography from the Open University, an MA in Society and Space from the University of Bristol, and a BSc in Human Geography from the University of Reading. Prior to joining Oxford, she lectured in Geography at Keele University and Queen Mary, University of London, and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Open University. Beth's research integrates political-economy geography, cultural geography, and science studies to examine the social implications of scientific innovations in health, biomedicine, and the environment. Her work employs qualitative, ethnographic, and archival methods to understand the social and ethical processes involved in biomedical research. She has received funding from various organizations, including the AHRC and the Wellcome Trust, and has published widely in leading interdisciplinary geography journals. Currently, she leads the 'Animal Research Nexus' project focused on the societal aspects of animal research in medicine, collaborating with multiple universities. Additionally, she is involved in various projects exploring microbiome research, animal ethics, and public health initiatives aimed at increasing breast cancer awareness among Black women.
