Dr. Beth Stuart

Biography

Beth Stuart works in an expanding range of media including writing, painting, ceramics, performance, textiles, and sculptural installation. Their work often confronts binaries and critiques modernist aesthetics and colonial relations through material play. Stuart explores themes such as clothing, architecture, patterns, figure-ground relationships, rituals, and cultural histories. With 15 years of teaching experience, Stuart employs traditional and non-traditional approaches to painting and three-dimensional construction in the classroom, fostering a collaborative learning environment that embraces cultural differences and diverse learning styles. They advocate for curiosity as a central element of learning.
