Biography

Bethan Davies’s research interest is using routine data to build an evidence base for public health policy. She is the Deputy Director of the UK Small Area Statistics Unit (SAHSU) at the MRC Centre for Environment and Health, where she researches the impact of social and environmental factors on health and health inequality. Bethan is a Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Public Health and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She serves as Co-Director of the Imperial Masters in Public Health (MPH) Online program and is the Academic Representative on the Faculty Information Governance committee, and EDI lead for the Social, Genetic, and Environmental Determinants of Health Theme at the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre. Bethan holds a leading research role in the HDRUK Social Environmental Determinants of Health Driver Programme, focusing on environments for healthy ageing. Additionally, she is a Co-Investigator on the NIHR HPRU Radiation Threats and Hazards project, leading efforts on Radiation Releases: Accidents and Incidents, and on the CRUK Cancer Data Driven Detection (CD3) initiative, where she co-leads research on geospatial inequalities in cancer incidence. Bethan also supervises PhD candidates in various impactful research projects concerning health and well-being.
