Biography

Bethany Hedt-Gauthier obtained her PhD in Biostatistics from Harvard School of Public Health in 2008 after completing her undergraduate studies in mathematics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1999. Following her undergraduate education, she served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Namibia, which sparked her interest in global health and public health research. Dr. Hedt-Gauthier completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in 2010 and has since focused her research on the development and evaluation of mobile health (mHealth) tools designed to support community health workers in rural Rwanda, particularly in postoperative care following cesarean deliveries. Her work also includes expertise in statistical methods, complex survey sampling, and program monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Hedt-Gauthier leads NIH-funded research initiatives that aim to assess the impact and feasibility of innovative health interventions.
