Bethlehem Tekola Gebru, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Psychology at King's College London. She earned her BA in History and MA in Social Anthropology from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Before her appointment at KCL in 2017, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Open University, managing research on Wellbeing in Developing Countries as part of the ESRC Research Group at the University of Bath. Her Ph.D. research focused on the perceptions and experiences of children living in poverty in Addis Ababa. Bethlehem has significant expertise in qualitative research approaches and has worked extensively with marginalized and vulnerable groups. She has been involved in autism research projects in Ethiopia and Kenya, contributing to the design and execution of qualitative research components. Her research interests include qualitative research, stigma in the context of developmental disabilities, and the experiences of marginalized children and women. She is affiliated with the Global research Autism Developmental disabilities (GLAD) Lab and the Centre for Global Mental Health (CGMH), which aims to address inequities in mental health care and reduce human rights abuses for individuals living with mental and neurological disorders in low-resource settings.
