Dr. Betsey Stevenson

Biography

Betsey Stevenson is a Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan, with affiliations in Public Policy. She has extensive experience in economic research and policy, including serving as an economist for the U.S. Department of Labor and as a member of the Biden-Harris transition team for the U.S. Treasury. Stevenson has held prominent roles advising President Obama on social policy, labor market, and trade issues, beginning her tenure on the Council of Economic Advisers from 2013 to 2015. She is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and has worked with various esteemed institutions, including the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Munich. Her research primarily addresses women's labor market experiences and how various economic forces impact modern families and the broader macroeconomy. Stevenson is a co-author of widely used economics textbooks and has contributed to numerous leading economics journals.
