Dr. Beverley Sheares

Biography

Beverley J. Sheares, MD, MS is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics specializing in Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology, and Sleep Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. Sheares leads the Health Equity Thread at Yale, focusing on developing health equity content in the medical school curriculum. She earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Subsequently, she specialized further in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine through a fellowship at Columbia University. Over her extensive career, Dr. Sheares has worked to improve health outcomes for children suffering from asthma and other respiratory issues. Her research interests are focused on enhancing adherence to asthma education interventions among marginalized communities. Dr. Sheares has mentored medical students, residents, and junior faculty throughout her career and is recognized for her contributions to teaching and mentorship with numerous awards. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she actively collaborates on research projects aimed at closing health disparities gaps in respiratory conditions, encompassing populations such as racial/ethnic minorities and socioeconomically disadvantaged children.
