Dr. Beverly Gage

Biography

Beverly Gage is the John Lewis Gaddis Professor of History at Yale University, focusing on 20th-century U.S. history. She is the author of 'G-Man: J. Edgar Hoover and the Making of the American Century,' which won several prestigious awards including the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Biography. Her current work involves a biography of Ronald Reagan, reflecting on how the Cold War debates on communism influenced his politics. Gage's teaching and research interests encompass the Gilded Age, political history, and social movements, particularly conservatism and radicalism. In addition to her academic contributions, she has written for several major publications including the New Yorker and the Washington Post. Gage has also received the Sarai Ribicoff Award for teaching excellence. She leads the Workshop on Modern U.S. History, fostering discussions on the latest scholarship in the field.
