Dr. Bibianna Purgina

Biography

Bibianna Purgina is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, specializing in Anatomical Pathology. She serves as the Director of the Residency Training Program for Anatomical Pathology tailored to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Purgina graduated from the University of Ottawa and furthered her training with fellowships in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology and Head and Neck/Endocrine Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is a staff pathologist at the Ottawa Hospital, where she focuses on head, neck, endocrine, and bone soft tissue pathology. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Purgina contributes to various committees, including Cancer Care Ontario and the Ontario Association of Pathologists, and holds a council position in the Ontario Medical Association's Laboratory Medicine Section. Actively engaged in residency education and patient safety initiatives, her research interests encompass Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology, Head and Neck Pathology, and Endocrine Pathology.
