Professor Bijan Modarai holds the King's Chair in Vascular Surgery and is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow with the British Heart Foundation. He completed Basic Surgical Training in London and was awarded the BHF Clinical PhD Studentship in 2002. In 2006, he graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry and completed Higher Surgical Training. He has served as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer and King's Endovascular Fellow at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Vascular Surgery at King's College London, he also serves as an Honorary Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust since 2012. His research focuses on developing novel diagnostics and advanced therapies for vascular disease, particularly in the area of aortic aneurysms and limb ischaemia. Professor Modarai's translational research integrates basic science with surgical interventions and he contributes to several committees, including as a council member of the British Society for Endovascular Therapy.
