Biography

Bikash Pattnaik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he holds the Retina Research Foundation Daniel M. Albert Chair. With a strong commitment to addressing challenges that affect young people's sight, he leads programs focused on learning and professional development within the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Pattnaik's professional activities also extend to involvement in the McPherson Eye Research Institute, where he interacts with the larger UW community and participates in leadership committees. He is a member of the university’s Immigration and International Relations Committee, advocating for historically marginalized populations. As Clinical Director of Visual Electrophysiology, his clinical interests include congenital eye diseases that affect outer retina physiology, optic nerve visual impairments that lead to blindness in children, and the treatment of visual impairments in children who survive hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Pattnaik is also an active member of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV), where he focuses on adapting and evolving clinical practice in visual electrophysiology.
