Dr. Bilge Yilmaz

Biography

Bilge Yilmaz is the Wharton Private Equity Professor at the Wharton School, where he serves as the Academic Director of the Harris Family Alternative Investments Program. Previously, he was a faculty member at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He has received degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Boğaziçi University and a PhD in Economics from Princeton University. His research primarily focuses on corporate finance, alternative investments, political economy, and related areas including corporate governance, credit rating agencies, hedge funds, private equity, and corporate bankruptcy. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as Econometrica and the American Economic Review. At Wharton, he teaches courses in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, hedge funds, and shareholder activism. Yilmaz has designed multiple courses in corporate finance as part of the new curriculum for the school's alternative investment programs and has contributed significantly to executive education. Additionally, he has served as a deputy chairman of a major opposition party in Turkey, engaging in the political landscape.
