Biography

William (Bill) K. Annable is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo in the Department of Civil Environmental Engineering. With over 18 years of research experience, he specializes in hydraulic and sediment transport morphological characteristics of rivers. His work includes the design, monitoring, and supervision of natural channel restoration projects throughout North America, focusing on an extensive 2,500 km of streams and rivers. His recent research has emphasized the sediment transport characteristics of urban river systems and how changes in hydrology impact habitat dynamics. Professor Annable's research interests include river restoration, rehabilitation, and ecological improvements of aquatic habitats. He utilizes basin-scale isotope hydrology and conducts numerical field studies examining groundwater and surface water interactions, particularly in karst hydrology. Professor Annable also engages in modeling studies that focus on urban river mechanics and hydrology, with current research funding from various agencies including NSERC and CFI.
