Biography

Bill Cooke is a Professor and the Director of the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois in 1977 and has held faculty positions at the University of Michigan, Purdue University, and Wayne State University, as well as visiting roles at Cornell University and the University of California, Berkeley. Bill is the author of numerous articles and books focusing on multinational companies' global human resource and labor relations strategies, international workplace systems, and knowledge-based HR technology strategies, as well as union-management cooperation. His research has been funded by a variety of foundations, including the National Science Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, and Rockefeller Foundation, and he has presented his findings at approximately 100 conferences in 20 countries. Additionally, Bill has extensive experience collaborating closely with human resource and labor relations professionals in the field and has served in advisory and consulting positions for more than 30 companies. Over his 35-year career, he has directed executive education programs on labor-management relations and negotiations at Michigan State University and previously at the University of Michigan.
