Biography

Bimal Bhindi is a urologic oncologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. He obtained his medical degree from McGill University and completed his residency training at the University of Toronto, where he earned his Royal College Specialist certificate in Urology. He further honed his expertise with fellowship training in urologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Since 2018, he has been a part of the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology, focusing on various aspects of urologic oncology, particularly prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers. Bhindi is extensively involved in research on clinical outcomes and health services, with interests that extend to active surveillance, optimization of patient selection for local therapies, personalized medicine, and multimodal therapy for advanced metastatic prostate and kidney cancer. To date, he has authored 42 peer-reviewed manuscripts, contributed to a textbook chapter on the Diagnosis and Surgical Management of Renal Tumors, and written 12 editorials. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences, earning multiple awards for presentations and posters.
