Biography

Bin Tian is a prominent molecular systems biologist specializing in gene expression regulation at the RNA level. Currently serving as a Professor and Program Co-Leader at the Wistar Institute, he leads the Genome Regulation Cell Signaling Program and directs the Center for Systems & Computational Biology. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of alternative polyadenylation (APA), revealing its diverse regulatory consequences across various biological systems. His group's work emphasizes the functional impacts of APA polymorphism in human populations and its role in cancer development and neurodevelopmental processes. Bin received his B.S. in Biochemistry from East China University of Science and Technology and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences. After postdoctoral training in bioinformatics at Johnson & Johnson, he established his research group at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he became a tenured professor in 2014 before joining the Wistar Institute in 2020. His lab utilizes genomic and bioinformatic approaches to study RNA biology and its implications for human health and disease.
