Biography

Professor Bing-Jie (Bruce) Ni received his PhD degree in Environmental Engineering in June 2009 from the University of Science & Technology China. He is currently an ARC Future Fellow and a full professor at UNSW Sydney. His research focuses on environmental technology and wastewater treatment, particularly interface process engineering, microbial biotechnology, materials science, and mathematical modeling. He aims to integrate these disciplines to develop innovative and sustainable technological solutions for wastewater treatment, achieving high levels of pollutant removal while minimizing carbon emissions and maximizing energy recovery. Professor Ni has pioneered the modeling and control of greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater management systems and has contributed significantly to developing biotechnologies to lower methane and nitrous oxide emissions. He has published extensively, with over 450 papers in refereed ISI journals and has led significant research projects and initiatives, secured substantial funding, and received numerous awards recognizing his contributions to environmental technology.
