Associate Professor Bing Hui Wang trained in Chemistry (BSc, MSc) and earned his PhD from the Department of Biochemistry, La Trobe University. He is a world-leading researcher in the fields of heart failure and cardiorenal syndrome, making significant contributions to the identification of novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for drug development. His career has spanned academic research in Australia and China, as well as commercial research in the biotechnology industry in Melbourne. Bing has made substantial contributions to academic research, particularly in understanding the pathological mechanisms of inflammatory cytokines and mediators underlying cardiovascular-related diseases such as heart failure and renal diseases. His expertise lies in molecular cell biology, biomarkers, protein biochemistry, drug design and discovery, and pharmacology. His current research interests include pharmacology related to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), novel therapeutics for CVDs, and the discovery and development of biomarkers. A/Prof Wang’s research focuses particularly on the pathophysiology underpinning heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and other cardiovascular-related diseases. He has received funding from the NHMRC, MRFF, and National Heart Fund (NHF) for numerous research projects aimed at new drug development and has published over 110 papers in major international journals.
