Dr. Bingchun Meng

Biography

Professor Bingchun Meng is a prominent figure in the field of Media Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She co-directs the LSE-Fudan Global Public Policy Research Centre and serves as the Director of the LSE PhD Academy within the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). Professor Meng completed her Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language Literature and a Master's degree in Comparative Literature at Nanjing University, China, and earned her PhD in Mass Communication from Pennsylvania State University, USA, in 2006. Her research interests focus on gender media, the political economy of media industries, communication governance, and comparative media studies. Professor Meng has published extensively in leading academic journals and authored the book "Politics of Chinese Media: Consensus and Contestation" published by Palgrave in early 2018. Currently, she is working on a monograph contracted by Columbia University Press, exploring AI industries in China. Her expertise encompasses political communication, governance, and gender dynamics in the context of China, contributing to the understanding of how institutional forces shape media and communication.
