Biography

Bingen “Ben” Yang is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California with over 20 years of research experience. He has published approximately 150 journal and conference papers covering areas such as solid mechanics, vibrations, structural dynamics, and control systems. His current research interests include the modeling, analysis, and control of inflatable space structures, servo control of flexible positioning systems, and the development of intelligent biomedical devices utilizing smart materials and micro-electro-mechanical systems. Dr. Yang is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and has undertaken numerous research projects that involve dynamic analysis and control, as well as failure analysis of complex mechanical systems, such as aircraft vehicle structures, flexible robot arms, and cable-stayed bridges. His work has garnered various funding from both government and industry, contributing to a significant body of research output, with 60 published journal articles.
