Biography

Dr. Bingshu Chen is a Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University. He joined the Canadian Cancer Trials Group as a Senior Biostatistician in July 2008. Dr. Chen earned his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Waterloo in 2003. He has previously worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the United States National Cancer Institute in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics. Before his current position, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Concordia University in Montreal. Dr. Chen's research predominantly explores survival analysis and generalized linear models, focusing on developing biomarker threshold models to predict treatment benefits in cancer clinical trials. His research interests also extend to the analysis of health economic data and statistical computing, particularly concerning missing data problems. Moreover, he collaborates with epidemiologists and physicians on the design and analysis of clinical trials and epidemiological studies, while providing statistical tools for power and sample size calculations.
