Biography

Bintian joined University of Warwick in November 2023 as an Assistant Professor in human-structure dynamics after completing his PhD at Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He conducted a one-year study at the University of Exeter as a visiting student under the China Scholarship Council. Bintian earned his B.Eng. degree in civil engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2017. He is a member of the Human & Structure Lab, led by Professor Stana Živanović. His interdisciplinary research interests center around human-induced vibrations in civil engineering structures, human-structure interactions, and modeling human locomotion and gait analysis. His work addresses the challenge of predicting and mitigating dynamic loads exerted by human activities on lightweight structures, which is increasingly important for achieving net-zero emissions. His teaching includes courses in engineering structures, engineering mathematics, and data analytics. Bintian encourages students interested in human-structure dynamics to propose research questions for PhD scholarships. He is also willing to assist Chinese students in applying for the CSC-Warwick scholarship.
