Biography

Bipin Rajendran is a Professor in the Department of Engineering at King's College London, where he directs the King's Laboratory for Intelligent Computing. He co-leads the Centre for Intelligent Information Processing Systems (CIIPS). Professor Rajendran obtained his Bachelor's degree in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2000, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He has served as a Master Inventor and Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in New York from 2006 to 2012. His research focuses on developing algorithms, devices, and systems for intelligent computing. To date, he has co-authored 95 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and holds 59 issued U.S. patents. Professor Rajendran is a recipient of the IBM Faculty Award (2019) and the IBM Research Division Award (2012), and he was elected a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors in 2019. His research has been supported by various organizations including the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), National Science Foundation (NSF), and international agencies like the European Commission and the European Space Agency. In 2022, he received the Open Fellowship from EPSRC.
