Dr. Birgitta Jönsson

Biography

Birgitta Jönsson is a Professor in the Odontology section at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her research focuses primarily on orofacial pain, periodontitis, and their relationships to overall health quality of life. She has contributed to various studies and publications, including work on the impact of social mobility and employment on dental health, as well as the associated risks of periodontitis with other health conditions. Jönsson has been actively involved in examining how psychosocial factors influence dental service utilization and the oral health of different populations, including indigenous Sami people in Northern Norway. She has participated in significant collaborative research projects that explore the intersections of dental health with broader social issues.
