Biography

Birgitta Kimber is a Senior Consultant at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section of Norrlands University Hospital and a researcher at Umeå University’s Department of Public Health Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from Karolinska Institute and has over 20 years of experience implementing interventions designed to promote mental health among school-aged children. Birgitta collaborates with researchers across Europe and has been involved in several EU-funded projects, specifically focusing on the European Alliance for Partnerships in SEL (EAP SEL) and RESCUR. Her work includes developing and training teachers and social workers in implementing evidence-based mental health interventions in schools, including the Social Emotional Training (SET) program in Palestine. Currently, she is working on projects that aim to develop resilience curriculum for newly arrived youth and their families, in partnership with Örebro University and the Norwegian Public Health Agency, which will run until 2025.
