Dr. Bishwodeep Adhikari

Biography

Bishwodeep Adhikari is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Penn State Harrisburg. His research focuses on hydrology, water quality, and sustainable stormwater management within the context of a changing climate. Dr. Adhikari’s background integrates hydrologic modeling and environmental geochemistry with a keen interest in urban stormwater infrastructure. He explores the influence of land use, climate variability, and infrastructure design on runoff, pollutants, and nutrient dynamics in both natural and built environments. Utilizing field observations, laboratory analyses, and computational methods—including machine learning and process-based models—he seeks to understand and improve the performance of water systems under environmental stressors. Dr. Adhikari earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and holds a Master's degree in Geology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Prior to joining Penn State Harrisburg, he served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Kent State University and worked as a Hydrologist in the private sector. His expertise encompasses both global-scale analyses and site-level applications, informing the design of sustainable water infrastructure. He values mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration, advocating for partnerships that connect research to real-world solutions.
