Biography

Bissan Ghaddar is an Associate Professor at the Ivey Business School, specializing in Management Science and Sustainability. She holds the John M. Thompson Chair in Engineering Leadership & Innovation. Her research focuses on the intersection of machine learning and optimization models, addressing complex problems in areas such as energy, water, and transportation network optimization. Before joining Ivey, she served as an Assistant Professor in the Data Analytics Department of Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo. Her previous experience includes working on inventory management issues at IBM Research and on operational research analysis for the Department of National Defence in Canada. Dr. Ghaddar's work has been featured in prestigious journals such as Mathematical Programming, INFORMS Journal on Computing, and SIAM Journal on Optimization. She has received support from both national and international grants, including NSERC, OCE, Cisco, H2020, and the Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship. Additionally, she is an Associate Editor for the EURO Journal on Computational Optimization and serves as the Research Lead at the Ivey Energy Policy Management Centre, while also being engaged with the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
