Biography

Biwei Huang is an Assistant Professor at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute at UC San Diego. His research interests focus on automated causal discovery in complex environments and the theoretical guarantees associated with these methods. He is also dedicated to advancing machine learning from a causal perspective and applying adaptable causal discovery approaches to solve significant scientific problems. Biwei successfully led the NeurIPS’20 workshop on causal discovery and contributed to the organization of the Conference on Causal Learning and Reasoning (CLeaR 2022). He has been recognized as a Rising Star by the Trustworthy Machine Learning Initiative and received the Presidential Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University in 2017, as well as the Apple Scholars AI/ML Ph.D. fellowship in 2021.
