Dr. Bjarne Andresen

Biography

Bjarne Andresen is an Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in theoretical chemistry and physics with a focus on finite-time thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and optimization theory. His academic journey began at the University of Copenhagen, where he earned his degrees: a Cand. scient. in chemistry in 1971, a Lic. scient. (Ph.D.) in theoretical chemistry in 1974, and a Dr. scient. in 1984. Throughout his career, he has held various prestigious positions including guest and visiting professor stints at renowned institutions such as Stanford University and the University of Chicago. He has been actively involved in several academic organizations and initiatives, including serving as a president of the Section Theoretical Chemistry of the Danish Chemical Society and a member of the Danish Academy of Natural Sciences. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has organized international conferences and contributed significantly to research networks in thermodynamics. Bjarne is fluent in Danish and English, with a fair knowledge of German, and he continues to contribute to the field through research and international collaborations.
