Biography

Bjørn Buchardt is an Associate Professor emeritus at the University of Copenhagen, with a focus on stable isotope geochemistry and the development of methods for oxygen isotope determination in carbonate shells. He completed his Cand. scient. in geology in 1974 and his PhD in 1978, both at the University of Copenhagen. Over the years, he has held various positions including lecturer in geology and geochemistry and leader of the stable isotope laboratory. His research primarily addresses the palaeotemperature evaluation of Tertiary deposits in Northwestern Europe. He has been actively involved in numerous projects focusing on isotope geology and organic geochemistry and has participated in significant initiatives such as the Ocean Drilling Program. Throughout his career, he has received substantial funding for various research projects and has contributed to the scientific community as a member of advisory boards and councils. He has extensive teaching experience, guiding many master's and PhD students in geology.
