Biography

Blair Brettmann is an Associate Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and completed both his Master's in Chemical Engineering Practice and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at MIT in 2009 and 2012, respectively. His doctoral research involved working at the Novartis-MIT Center for Continuous Manufacturing under Prof. Bernhardt Trout. Prior to his current role, Dr. Brettmann gained experience as a research engineer at Saint-Gobain Ceramics Plastics. He also served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago. His research concentrations involve developing technologies for designing multicomponent, rapidly customizable product designs, with a particular focus on polymer systems. His group utilizes a blend of experimental and theoretical methodologies aimed at bridging molecular and micron-scale phenomena with product performance.
