Dr. Bo Bach

Biography

Bo Sayyad Bach is a clinical professor and scientist-practitioner based at the University of Copenhagen. His expertise lies in Mental Health Services, particularly within Region Zealand, where he engages in innovative research on personality dysfunction and psychopathology. Bach's main research interests include assessment, conceptualization, and treatment of personality disorders, heavily influenced by the latest frameworks such as the ICD-11 and DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders. He has contributed significantly to the ICD-11 Classification for Personality Disorders and has been involved in various field trials for new diagnostic frameworks. Academically, he is a member of the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) consortium, aiming to establish a scientifically informed map for mental health that facilitates understanding and treatment of mental disorders. In addition, Bach is an internationally certified trainer in schema therapy and has experience integrating multiple psychotherapy traditions to address complex emotional needs in mental health diagnoses. He actively participates in academic training programs for graduate students in clinical psychology at his university, aiming to shape future mental health professionals and improve clinical practice in understanding disorders such as Complex PTSD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
