Dr. Bo Christensen

Biography

Bo Christensen is a Professor of General Medicine at the Department of Public Health, Aarhus University. His research group focuses on how general practitioners can assist patients in preventing cardiovascular diseases and treating those already diagnosed. A critical challenge in this work is the collaboration between general practice and cardiologists, particularly in light of recent healthcare reforms that have led general practitioners to take on more responsibilities within the healthcare system. Another significant area of his research examines how to support patients in living well with cardiovascular diseases, especially considering many patients experience reduced mental well-being. Bo’s clinical work alongside his academic role inspires both his research and teaching, as he actively engages students in General Medicine education, emphasizing both undergraduate and postgraduate learning. He also mentors Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers while contributing to various healthcare projects and committees related to heart diseases. His dedication to teaching and research has established him as an influential figure within medical education and public health.
