Biography

Bo Jellesmark Thorsen is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and a Professor of Applied Economics at the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen. He has a Master’s degree in Forestry, a PhD, and has been awarded Dr. agro. He has supervised over 25 PhD students and postdocs during his academic career. His research focuses on decision-making under uncertainty, particularly regarding real options in productivity, and he has significant expertise in environmental valuation methods and the regulation of natural resources. Thorsen is also engaged in research aimed at finding new ways to regulate the supply of ecosystem services related to nature, forests, and agricultural land. Additionally, he is involved in several advisory roles, including serving on the board of the Danish Climate Forest Fund and the Danish Nature Fund, both appointed by government ministers. Thorsen has played a pivotal role in several national advisory panels, focusing on climate change and the bioeconomy.
