Biography

Bo Zhang received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Shandong University in 1999, an M.S. in Physical Chemistry from Peking University in 2002, and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Utah in 2006. He joined the University of Washington (UW) in 2008 after completing postdoctoral research in Professor Andrew Ewing’s laboratory at Pennsylvania State University. Zhang's research focuses on the development of a complete understanding of the electrode/solution interface. His lab utilizes optical microscopy and spectroscopy methods to study electrochemical interfacial chemistry problems, including single-entity electrochemistry and the development of nanoelectrochemistry tools. Notable applications of his research include studying dynamic redox processes at the nanoscale, employing novel techniques and apparatus such as massive electrochemical arrays. He has received several honors, including the 2020 American Chemical Society Electrochemistry Award and the Sloan Research Fellowship. Zhang served as the President of the Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry (SEAC) from 2019 to 2021 and was recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the Analytical Scientist in 2014.
