Dr. Bob Randall

Biography

Bob Randall is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, having joined the university in 1988. He worked for 17 years at the Danish company Brüel & Kjær and gained ten years of experience in the chemical rubber industries across Australia, Canada, and Sweden. He authored the book 'Frequency Analysis', published by Brüel & Kjær in 1987, which has been widely distributed. Bob was promoted to Associate Professor in 1996 and became a full Professor in 2001, being named Emeritus Professor upon his retirement in 2008. His educational background includes degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Arts (Mathematics) from the Universities of Adelaide and Melbourne, respectively. He has contributed as an invited author for chapters focusing on vibration measurement and analysis in numerous handbooks and encyclopedias, and he serves on the Advisory Board of a leading journal in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing. His recent work includes the 2021 Wiley publication 'Vibration-based Condition Monitoring', and he has authored over 280 cited papers in the fields of vibration analysis and machine diagnostics while supervising seventeen PhD projects in these areas. Bob maintains an active research profile.
