Biography

Bob E. Schutz is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Joe J. King Chair and the FSX Professorship in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics within the Cockrell School of Engineering. He serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Space Research and is part of the research staff at the Applied Research Laboratory. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Schutz was a Science Team Leader for NASA's Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS), which was launched as part of the ICESat mission in 2001, aimed at supporting NASA's Earth Observing System. He holds a Ph.D. in Spaceborne Laser Altimetry, with particular focus on GLAS and ICESat.
